AFTER THE FUTURE

VIDEO

4’40, full HD color, 2018

The video addresses the question of what happens when walls could be overthrown and spaces broken open by mere human intervention. It negotiates a thought that the French Author Georges Perec wrote in relation to spaces and its transitive qualities: “Life means going from one space to another, trying as far as possible not to push oneself”. (Collection of texts “Espèces d’Espaces”, Paris 1974). The video images use a physical action to show the challenge of failure, losing control, and the attempt to regain control. The shots of various moments of the impact are filmed in slow motion, thus making it possible to observe the physical exertion and the working off of the apparently impenetrable material.
